Networks for Sustainable Development

AfB is committed to a number of initiatives and organisations that work for social issues and sustainability. Building long-term, trusting relationships is important to us, because partnership is the best way to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The topics of environmental protection and inclusion as well as social entrepreneurship and sustainable digitalisation are particularly close to our hearts. UNGC Logo

The UN Global Compact formulates ten universal principles for responsible business. These cover the topics of human rights, environmental protection, labour standards and corruption prevention. Based on these principles and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the UNGC pursues the global vision of an inclusive and sustainable economy. More than 17,500 companies and organisations are already signatories of the UN Global Compact - including AfB.

The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Inklusionsfirmen (bag if) represents the interests of inclusive companies in Germany. The network of inclusive companies campaigns for the interests of people with severe disabilities in working life. The bag if advocates for the strengthening of inclusive workplaces through public procurement.

CEFEC (Confederation of European Social Firms, Employment Initiatives and Social Cooperatives) is the Europe-wide association of social firms, employment initiatives and social cooperatives. CEFEC is particularly committed to inclusive enterprises. AfB was named Europe's Social Enterprise of the Year 2020 by CEFEC.

The JARO Institute pursues the goal of establishing sustainable action in business, administration and organisations of all kinds. JARO is guided by the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and imparts relevant knowledge in training programmes. The focus is on applied research. AfB Managing Director Daniel Büchle has been an honorary board member of the JARO Institute since 2021.

Today, with almost 700 members, B.A.U.M. is a strong corporate network for sustainable management. AfB Managing Director Daniel Büchle has been involved as a council member of B.A.U.M. e.V. since 2021.

With support from business, science and civil society, the Circular Economy Initiative is pursuing the goal of advancing a sustainable circular economy. Together with a wide range of social actors, it is developing a target picture for Germany, investigating concrete use cases and identifying framework conditions for the success of a circular economy.

Unternehmensnetzwerk Klimaschutz logo

Unternehmensnetzwerk Klimaschutz

AfB is a founding member of the new Unternehmensnetzwerk Klimaschutz (corporate network for climate protection). As part of the project, a nationwide offer is currently being developed for companies and multipliers who actively contribute to climate protection and who will share and expand their knowledge in this regard. The centrepiece will be a digital platform for the exchange of information between members. The official launch of the business network is planned for spring 2022. The project is supported by DIHK Service GmbH of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

AfB is a member of EUREFAS, the European Refurbishment Association. The sustainability network aims to represent the IT refurbishment sector (especially the smartphone sector) within the European Union. In particular, the topic of the circular economy and related aspects such as the right to repair are to be promoted.
