Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) - the Jesuitical initiative for higher education at the borders

Together with Fujitsu, the AfB is involved in the "Jesuit Worldwide Learning" programme. It gives people in refugee camps and crisis areas the opportunity to take part at online language courses and to study online.

Less than one percent of all refugees have access to university education. Even though many of them have the talent and the will to study. JWL offers them a unique opportunity.

This winter semester 31 young men and women in Afghanistan and Kenya are enrolled at the Catholic University of Eichstätt. The academic networking is made possible by the educational program Jesuit Worldwide Learning. Through a combination of online courses and personal support on site, the students will take part in futher training to become a learning facilitator. Their performance will be evaluated by lecturers of the Faculty of Religious Education.

Currently, more than 3,000 students at over 25 locations in Asia and Africa, Middle East benefit from the JWL programs. 5000 students are planned for 2020.

Renowned Jesuitical universities set the curricula, guarantee academic quality and ensure that JWL degrees are recognized worldwide. The most important medium is the Internet. JWL procures the suitable hardware from AfB : 500 notebooks and 200 tablets have been prepared and made available by AfB for JWL assignments in Malawi, Kenya, Togo, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Irreplaceable: learning together in the "Community Learning Centers" (CLC), since learning together in the virtual seminar rooms often leads to real friendships across all geographical and cultural borders.

A real educational and peace project. We are proud to support JWL.
