From 17 to 25 June, Berlin will host the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 - a sports festival for people with mental and multiple disabilities. AfB provides refurbished IT for Special Olympics for the second time after the National Games 2022.
AfB is providing a total of 1,400 refurbished smartphones and 1,000 notebooks, including accessories, to equip the Special Olympics World Games. We take charge of the entire process, from the delivery of the hardware to the return and data destruction as well as the remarketing of the devices after the event. AfB was already the IT supplier for the Special Olympics National Games 2022 in Berlin. We are very pleased that we can now continue this successful partnership in the context of the World Games.
AfB participates in host program for the Swiss delegation
216 cities from all regions of Germany will receive athletes from one country each four days before the Games so that they can get to know Germany. Karlsruhe is hosting the delegation from Switzerland. AfB is part of the Host Town Programme of the Karlsruhe City Council, which is why 13 athletes from Switzerland visited the AfB headquarters in Ettlingen on 15 June. The programme included tours of the production facilities, table tennis and delicious crêpes. The exchange between the athletes and the AfB staff was particularly valuable. There were many discussions about inclusion in sport and on the primary labour market. Athletes from different disciplines such as swimming, table tennis, horse riding and athletics were present.
About Special Olympics
A total of 7,000 athletes from all over the world will compete in 26 sports in Berlin this summer. The competitions will take place in various sports venues in Berlin: in the Olympiapark, at the Messe Berlin, in the SSE swimming stadium as well as in Bad Saarow and on the Wannsee.
A special highlight is also the Special Olympics Festival at the Neptune Fountain near Alexanderplatz and the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium.
