IT Refurbishment at AfB
AfB specializes in remarketing as many devices as possible. In 2022, we have achieved a remarketing quota of at least 64 %. In terms of circular economy, remarketing and reuse of IT hardware are best for environment and climate. Rely on Afb for data destruction and IT refurbishment. That's "Green IT" made in Europe!

1. Collection and transport of hardware
On-site collection of IT hardware by AfB's own IT security transport and AfB's own DGPR-trained staff. We ensure the highest level of data security, e.g. through lockable transport containers and special notebook boxes made of recyclate. We will gladly advise you on hazardous goods regulations, the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), the Circular Economy Act (KrWG), etc. The devices are transferred directly to the nearest AfB branch, inventoried and stored in the restricted warehouse under the highest security requirements.

4. Reconditioning / Refurbishing
All functioning devices are first thoroughly and professionally cleaned. If necessary, they are repaired and/or upgraded by our IT technicians. As AfB is authorized by Microsoft as a refurbisher (MAR "Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher"), we can pre-install legally compliant Windows licenses on all devices refurbished by us.
AfB has been certified as a MAR by Microsoft since 2012 and is one of the TOP 3 licensees in Germany.

2. Registration
Each device is recorded in detail (e.g., manufacturer, model, serial number, asset number). All this data is stored in AfB's own merchandise management system and linked to a uniquely identifiable log ID. As of now, you can view the status of the processing of your devices online at any time via a web login.

3. Certified data destruction
We use Blancco's data erasure software for certified data erasure of your devices. Before data erasure, a technician checks that all data carriers are connected. Data carriers that cannot be deleted are given their own log ID and destroyed with our in-house shredders according to DIN 66399.

6. Social projects
We also cooperate with certified partners. Stifter-helfen, for instance, distributes AfB hardware with discounted licenses to non-profit organizations. Through CSR cooperations with Jesuit Worldwide Learning, Labdoo or the Joblings, we can make a small contribution worldwide by offering socially disadvantaged people access to good refurbished hardware.

AfB awarded by Microsoft
Since 2012, AfB is awarded annually as "Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher" (MAR). This label underscores our high level of expertise in data security and the handling of Windows licenses.
MAR is a worldwide program from Microsoft, whose selection is based on strict guidelines. It enables computer refurbishers to offer refurbished PCs and notebooks with pre-installed original Microsoft software in a legally secure manner.
